  • Offer value to British wool farming.
  • Include British wool fibre.
  • Use British manufacturing.
  • Indicate the potential wool volume used in year one and future years scaling up volumes.

Due diligence will be carried out by the entrants and the Award givers to ensure there is no breach of patents, copyright, or Intellectual Property.

Following the closing date in June, a shortlist will be decided upon prior to the final interviews held in September. The decision of the judges is final.

Assessment Criteria

Once the entries are received, they will be assessed and shortlisted by a panel consisting of members of The Woolmen’s Company Charitable Incorporated Organisation, The Company of the Merchants of the Staple of England, the Lord Barnby Foundation and the Campaign for Wool along with Dame Mary Archer who will chair the panel.

Those shortlisted entrants will be asked to attend an interview on September 16th in London, and full details of the interview procedures and timing will be made available nearer the time.

The three principal criteria for assessing entries for the Awards are:

  • Relevance to the wool industry and sheep
  • Involvement with the wool textile industry in the UK, and other areas in the world where wool textile production is undertaken
  • Identification of any further work required to commercialise the innovation project undertaken in the UK

Relevance to the wool industry may cover veterinary procedures to improve the health and productivity of lambs and sheep; fashion and design studies using wool and other textiles.
